As a person who regularly visits the local Toronto Public Library, I began to notice the lack of programs and service within the institution. With the Youth Advisory Group accepting teens, I gladly joined to help fix this problem along with many others that also wanted their voice to be heard. As part of the Youth Advisory Group, we planned many programs and events that seemed to interest teens, such as 3-d printing classes and even gaming tournaments. Renovation and cleanup of the building was also regularly done by the Youth Advisory Group, creating a much cleaner and friendly environment for customers at the library. Through my time within the program, I was also able to establish close relationships with other members, along with improving my leadership and planning skills. Without this experience, my communication and leadership skills would've been mediocre at best, along with not having such influential people within my life.
Tutoring
Averaging 93% and above all years, I have successfully tutored countless of friends and fellow students within the fields: Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Advanced Functions, Biology, Geography, and even Art. Although my terrible work ethic (and tendency to get distracted) lowers my average by a considerable amount, I am able to tutor/teach people of all ages without problem - some of which are even attaining a 98% plus average. By placing others before me, I am able to get students a higher average and also teach them techniques and formulas that the curriculum does not teach. Thus do not get discouraged from my relatively low average when placed amongst those whom I have tutored, as I tend to get caught up with other activities. Instead, see me as a teacher who truly cares about your grades and guides you on the path towards success.
